Hama-rikyu Gardens
Hama-rikyu Teien, Chuo Ward

Created by Tokugawa Shogun in the Edo Period, these gardens are in the style a typical Japanese feudal lord (known as daimyo) would have had. There is a tidal pond called Shioiri-no-ike and two former wild duck-hunting sites inside. Shioiri-no-ike pond is the only salt water pond in Tokyo, and you can see seagulls flying over it. It is designated as a special place of scenic beauty and a special historic site of Japan. Enjoy the scenic beauty of these gardens while tasting matcha green tea at Nakashima Teahouse.

The plots and stone layouts of this garden sre particularly striking, earning a designation as a place of national scenic beauty in Japan.
