This elegant castle, which was known fondly as “Carp Castle,” was initially built by Terumoto Mori in 1589. After the atomic bomb completely destroyed the tower keep, it was reconstructed in 1958. The castle is located on the delta at the head of Hiroshima Bay.

This park was built with the hope of promoting lasting world peace and features many monuments scattered throughout, including one dedicated to Hiroshima’s atomic bomb victims. A peace memorial ceremony is held in front of this monument on August 6 each year.

This building remains standing as it was after the atomic bomb was dropped – for the first time in human history – on August 6, 1945. The dome has been permanently preserved in this state in order continue reminding us of the destruction brought by the atomic bomb. This site was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage symbol of peace in 1996.

Known as a tea master and a chief retainer of the Asano Clan, Shoko Ueda began building this structure in 1620 as a garden villa for the feudal lord. It is named after the style of its construction, featuring many miniature picturesque landscapes such as mountains, valleys and bridges throughout the garden.

This stadium was opened in 2009 as the home of Hiroshima Toyo Carp baseball team. The shape of the stadium opens out on the north side in order increase ventilation and give the ball park a sense of spaciousness. The variety of spectators’ seats means there are many ways to enjoy watching games.

As one of the most famous shinto shrines in Japan, Itsukishima is known for its architectural beauty and unique composition, which incorporates the sea upon which it is partially built. The vermillion red shrine pavilions standing partially in the sea appear differently depending on the ebb and flow of the tide.

You can board the Baarn cruise ship near the Atomic Bomb Dome and enjoy a 25-minute round trip on the water. Take in views of Hiroshima’s landscape that can only be seen from the river. This cruise is popular among couples and families!

This museum introduces the history of Mazda car manufacturing, exhibiting the brand’s classic cars and describing the technology behind them. The tour includes an assembly line where visitors can get a close look at the assembly process.

Focusing on Impressionist art, this museum boasts a permanent exhibit of around 90 works by French modern art masters, such as Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir and Picasso. However, the complete collection is comprised of around 250 items, including works by Japanese oil painters and Japanese-style nihonga paintings. The museum also hosts special exhibitions several times a year.
