When night falls, about 100 shops open up their food stalls across about 200 meters, from the northeast to the southwest. The shops feature a variety of food, including ramen, oden, gyoza, yakitori, and tempura. The shops have abundant individual menus. Because the food stalls do not have many seats and cannot accommodate a lot of people, visitors generally abstain from long visits or crowding one particular store. This balance lets everyone enjoy the flavors of the food stalls! They start opening around 18:00.

This was the biggest downtown area in Kyushu. It’s history stretches back to the Edo Period, when it was at the center of Fukuoka’s castle town. Underground is “Tenjin Chikagai” or the “Tenjin Underground Shopping Mall” and above ground are all sorts of eateries, shops, and business institutions like department stores and buildings dedicated to fashion. An experience-oriented museum with Anpanman as the theme. The open atrium has a glass ceiling spanning 8700㎡. Inside the facility is various play equipment, amusement options, shops, and eateries. Everyday, the Yanase Takashi Theater offers play performances with Anpanman and his friends! It’s a dream come true for children who want to meet Anpanman!

This theater opened in 1999 and hosts a variety of public performances, including plays, kabuki dramas, and musicals. It is the largest theater in Kyushu with 1500 seats. The eye-catching exterior of the building blends Japanese and Western architectural styles, whereas the gorgeous interior is decorated by art from the neighboring Fukuoka Asian Art Museum. The building has restaurants, cafes, a bakery, and shops with original goods. You definitely won’t get bored while you wait for the curtain to rise.

Known as 'Okushida san' by locals, this temple is located in Hakata and enshrines three gods; Kushidagu, Daishingu and Giongu. This temple is best known for Hakata Gion Yamakasa, a traditional Japanese fastival which takes place in July every year, this lively festival has been designated as an Unesco Intangible Cultural Heritage and important national cultural heritage. The Yamakasa, elaborate decorated floats which are paraded through the city on the shoulders of local residents, are on display at the shrine throughout the year.

This is one of Fukuoka’s leading entertainment destinations. It features various shops for fashion, cosmetics, and miscellaneous goods as well as a movie theater. In addition to the Japanese, Chinese, and Western restaurants, there’s also a popular ramen section called the “Ramen Stadium”. Recommended for families is an educational experience, called “teamLAB Future Park”, and “Hamley’s”, a themed park featuring all sorts of toys.

This is the main branch of the Shingon Sect of Buddhism in Kyushu. When Kubo-Daishi returned from his pursuit of knowledge in China, he prayed that the ancient teachings of Buddha would spread. The Tochoji Temple is the oldest temple founded by Kubo-Daishi in Japan. It was initially placed by the sea, but the second Daimyo of the Fukuoka Domain in the Chikuzen Province, Tadayuki Kuroda, transferred it to its current location today. Within the grounds is the statue of the thousand-armed Kannon Bosatsu, created during the Heian Period and is a nationally designated important cultural property, as well as the Rokkakudo, which is a prefecturally designated cultural property.

Mikage Park was created to maintain the inlet to Hakata Bay. The area spreads across about 2 kilometers and often has a lot of joggers. In addition to a Japanese garden in the Tsukiyama Rinsen Kaiyushiki style and the Fukuoka Art Museum, there are cafes and boat houses dotted around the large lake. Reaching a height of 234 m, this is the tallest of the seaside towers in Japan. The exterior is quite impressive, wrapped in approximately 8000 half-mirrors. It reopened in 2019 after renovations. Take a VR stroll known as the “SKY Walk 123”, where you’ll walk through the air to visit various places in the city, or try your hand at the giant capsule toy machine, “Sky Gacha”, which looks as though capsules are falling from the sky.
