Water is a symbol of Nihonbashi, as the area prospered because of the canals which served as the transportation network for the area. There are a variety of modern works made with traditional materials such as lacquer that have water as a theme that decorate everywhere from the entrance on the 1st floor to the guest rooms. Each of these pieces of art tell a story.

The fabric art by world-renowned textile designer Akane Moriyama has been created by applying a special process of spattering aluminum on ultra-thin fabric. It is a work of art that creates depth and fluctuation by stacking several layers; its expression changes depending on the angle and the direction of light. In addition to the giant object in the center, there are a variety of art installations such as fabric tucked between laminated glass.

Something akin to an art gallery greets guests before they approach, wrapped in the lush greenery of Jingu Gaien. In the roughly 200㎡ open-lobby lounge and guest room, art themed around forests (past), water (present), and light (future) is displayed. Creative objects, strange concept art, and artistic furniture come together to provide a unique and memorable experience.

'Kyobashi modern' channels the essence of Edo into the present day. Kyobashi was once as famous and important as Nihonbashi, as it was the first bridge that had to be crossed on the Tokaido road that connected Edo with Kyoto. Utagawa Hiroshige's woodblock print 'Bamboo Yards, Kyobashi Bridge', part of his 'One Hundred Famous Views of Edo' series, is a symbol of Kyobashi. Respecting this history and culture, Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyobashi has chosen 'Kyobashi modern' as its design concept, expressing the history of Kyobashi and Edo culture in modern ways all over the hotel. There was a popular game in Edo called "hanji-e." The game involves looking at a picture and guessing its meaning. As you relax in your room, we would like to share our love for Kyobashi and our best wishes for your trip.

In Ginza, which has developed as a center of Japanese tradition and arts, guests are welcomed by art that embodies the modern essence of Ginza. The beauty of Japan as seen from overseas is expressed throughout the hotel, using the spirit and traditional beauty of kabuki, a form of theater that has been handed down since the Edo period, as a motif. Enjoy artworks and indoor spaces that use typical Japanese colors such as vermilion, indigo, dark green, gold, and silver.

Dotted with art galleries and museums, Ueno is also known as a neighborhood that nurtures arts and culture. With this neighborhood as its backbone, the hotel features art bursting with originality. Included are the spirited works of three artists from the local Tokyo University of the Arts, with Hitoshi Tetsuhiko, who has previously been involved in many art projects, as our art director. When you step into the hotel, you will find yourself in another Ueno Park.

The hotel is studded with art depicting Hokkaido's traditions and culture that will make you want to stop to appreciate it for a while, and the modern interior features brickwork, gas lamps, and fabrics designed with traditional ethnic patterns to create a quintessential Hokkaido atmosphere. Experience and enjoy the originality of Hokkaido and Sapporo in our interiors themed on the traditional local craft of woodwork bears, with our 'Woody Bear' made out of wood from dismantled furniture, beautiful neon light sculptures that seem to float in the air, and paintings based on Hokkaido's natural landscapes.

Based on the design concept of “YOKOHAMA SKY CRUISING,” the interior is inspired by the image of a hotel anchored in the sky above the harbor of Minatomirai, featuring the curves and materials of a cruise ship.

Numerous works of art are displayed throughout the hotel. Our collection features pieces reminiscent of traditional crafts, works of modern art, and works that combine both elements. Original artworks that express the spirit of Nagoya. The artworks installed in the lobby, spa, and elevator hall to the guest rooms have been produced by Studio Sawada Design, a design firm based in Aichi’s Tokoname who work all over the world. Based on themes such as the clouds and the stars, these original works are totally unique to “Premier in the Sky.” Having their own roots here in Nagoya, Studio Sawada Design were able to create art for the hotel that finds new and truly different ways of expressing Nagoya’s sense of place.

Succeeding Tradition in Kyoto. This is a special place in Kyoto, the capital for over a millennium. Since the Edo Period, the Shinmachi-suji area has been lined with textile wholesalers. Above all is the site of the former Matsuzakaya Kyoto Supply Store, which once stood as a large shop in the area. This traditional and historic spot has been restored. One by one, the beams and pillars, the garden’s stones, and the artwork will bring a new breath of history to you. You’ll be led on a special sojourn that transcends the passage of time in Kyoto.

A grand atmosphere of the kind you can feel in a Great Buddha Hall. With black and white monotone palettes, and carved wooden figures and old wooden pillars preserved from Jokyoji, guests are greeted by an atmosphere of stillness, as if one is visiting an art gallery.
